We are pleased to announce that Dr Mendelson's Centre for Facial Plastic Surgery in Toorak has reopened as of this week.
This follows the government's easing of restrictions following the lockdown period. The first surgery has been scheduled from next Monday the 1st of June.
There is a pent up demand as a result of the 6 week shutdown and the fact that a full elective surgery schedule is not permitted until July at the earliest.
Fortunately for people in Victoria, the interstate and overseas travel restrictions prevent half of Dr Mendelson’s usual clientele from being able to have surgery.
We have been surprised by the number of people wanting to make the most of the residual partial lockdown.
Based on enquiries, indications are that the pause for reflection during the ‘obligatory time out’ has prioritised the importance of the now. It has been a common experience during the lockdown, that having too much time paused in the mirror has resulted in being confronted by their face, showing evidence of time passed. This feeling is increased due to not having the usual morning rush to conceal this with makeup.
Many of the people making enquiries are telling us they had previously been considering having their facial appearance refreshed but had consistently delayed the process. The current lockdown period has made them realise just how much of their personal importance had simply been put off due to the busyness of their life's pre-pandemic.
A lesson learnt from the experience had prompted them not to delay further.
In our practice, we well know from our day in and out experience that patients having rejuvenation surgery experience an unexpected lift in their spirits. This uplift in spirits results from having years of etched worry erased from their face. The usual response is of relief and immense gratitude.
This is expressed with the usual comment, ‘If only I knew I was going to feel this way again, I would have done it sooner’.
